AUSTRALIAN PHONE WORD ASSOCIATION (APWA)
The Australian Phone Word Association Limited (APWA) is a not-for-profit industry body that exists for the benefit of all its members and all entities that intend to use Phone Words in advertising / communications.

Some of the key objectives of the APWA are:

  • Working with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), telecommunications companies, and handset manufacturers to ensure all mobile and fixed-line phones sold in Australia conform to the Australian Standard keypad. This is to ensure Phone Words can be successfully dialled from every phone in Australia.
  • Working with all telecommunications companies to ensure a certain level of overdial is accepted on all mobile and fixed-line networks. This is to ensure Phone Words longer than six letters (eg 1800 LIFE LINE, 1300 AUSPHONE etc) can be successfully dialled from every phone in Australia.
